FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where are you located?

We are located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Which areas do you service?

We have worked everywhere in the past and continue to do so today. The general area we cite is the Greater Toronto Area; Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, and Hamilton to list a few.

What stone can you work on?

The majority of work is based on natural stone such as marble, granite, limestone and slate as these require maintenance every few years.

Recently however, there has been a shift towards man made stone. Contrary to popular belief these surfaces are not “perfect” or maintenance free, sometimes they will require refinishing. We have been asked to work on surfaces such as ceramic and porcelain as well, and we are happy to report that we are able to do so.

What type of properties do you work on?

We have worked at individual residences from small to large, commercial properties and condominium buildings to name a few. That being said, our work is not only limited to indoor work as we are able to work on stone outdoors, weather permitting. Ie. Paving stones, pool tiles.

Is it a messy procedure to restore my marble?

We utilize water in the restoration process which is beneficial because it creates little to no dust. However, we cover all surrounding surfaces so that we don’t make more of a mess than is necessary. We use plastic and tape to guard surrounding areas. We use a powerful wet vacuum which cleans and dries the surface area very quickly.

How long will it take to refinish my stone?

The time varies greatly depending on a variety of factors;

The biggest factor is the size of the area we are working on. Quite simply the larger the area, the longer it will take us to finish. We take our time during preparation to ensure we contain the surface area, so that we do not splash or damage surrounding surfaces.

The second biggest factor is how damaged the stone surface is. This will affect how long we need to grind the stone but also how many levels and how deep we need to go. If it is a very damaged or uneven surface we may need to use heavy duty grinding pads before we switch to more moderate ones. This process may take 6-8 grinding levels to get to a smooth level finish. We also need to consider if it needs epoxy filling or re-grouting as there is a curing time to factor in. We also need to take into account the time to polish, clean and finally to seal the surface. We strive to produce quality work and this is what we are known for.

Should sealer be used on my stone surface?

Yes, impregnating sealer should definitely be used to protect your stone. We say impregnating; meaning it goes into your stone and it does not leave an exterior coating. Once the sealer is worked into the stone and dries, there are no visible signs of it left. However your stone will still be protected from spills and stains.

The key is to use a quality sealer and to apply it properly.
